“Absolutely amazing and very well-deserved” – that was the reaction of Principal Nicola Madden as Limavady Grammar School pupils received their GCSE results this morning.  Despite the disruption to teaching and learning caused by the Covid pandemic over the last two years, pupils at the Grammar produced some of the best results the school has ever seen with an astonishing 99% of pupils receiving seven or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics and over 62% receiving 5 or more A*- A grades.   Seven pupils – Rosaleen Blair, Odhran Clenaghan, Michael Devlin, Annabelle Hunter, Calum McDonnell, Azura Rice and Megan Robinson -achieved straight A* grades across all nine of their subjects whilst another 27 pupils – Brooke McCurry, Aislinn McDermott, Fintan McIvor, Tiegan Butcher, Yna Cisnero, Freddie Gault, Aoife McLaughlin, Olivia McLernon, Tom Smyth, Cyprian Soczynski, Emma Gill, Charli Burnside, Leo Collins, Ella Feeney, Callum Gilpin, Shona McElhinney, Amy McFarland, Ryan Wilson, Holly Miller, Bethan Proctor, Jaya Takkolu, Clara McAteer, Aoibhinn Nicholl, Eve Wallace, Ellen Alcorn, Sam Boardman and Emily Harnett, achieved A* or A grades in all of their subjects . Every pupil in the Grammar achieved the key benchmark of 5A* to C including English and Mathematics.

Mrs Madden was quick to praise the efforts of all of her pupils and their teachers.  “The pupils receiving their results this morning and their families have had to cope with two years like no other.  Yet, despite all of this, they have kept working and achieved these outstanding grades. Every pupil receiving their results today should be justly proud of what they have achieved.  I cannot praise them enough.   I would also like to thank my staff for the meticulous and dedicated way that they have prepared their pupils for these exams and for doing their best to keep pupils working during lockdown and other occasions when they had to work from home.  We look forward to welcoming most of our pupils back to begin their A Level studies with us next week and, to those pupils who will be leaving us, I wish them all the best in the future. These results reflect the high standards of excellence in Limavady Grammar ”
