At Textiles Club, KS3 students have been learning pattern cutting, hand sewing, basic sewing machine and construction skills!

This is my first year in the Textiles Club and I really enjoyed it – it was so much fun.

So far in Textiles I have made a mushroom pincushion and it looked so good. I made it with red and white thread and felted wool. So how can you make it? You get paper templates and pin them on the felt. Then you cut the shapes out, sew them together, put a button in the bottom and stuff it. Voila! There you have it, a mushroom pincushion.

I also got to experience working on the sewing machine. Next year I hope to create a costume or item of clothing.

Every Wednesday lunch when I walk in, I love the relaxing music Mrs Lowth always puts on. She always helps us out and is so kind. It takes place on Wednesday at lunchtime in E7. I think Textiles is my favourite lunchtime club so far.

Textile Club is a place that I found exciting as you can try new creations and experiment on different ideas you have.

So far in Textiles I have made a batik bag. How did I make this creation? Firstly I created a flower image on a piece of paper with white crayon and watercolours.  I then copied this design on a piece of cotton fabric with hot wax. I then added dye to give it some colour, then added some more wax on top of it. I added more colours then finally covered it in a heavy layer of wax. I crinkled the fabric to create a cracking effect. Then ironed the wax off. I cut my design out of the fabric and sewed it onto a book bag.

Every Wednesday after school at half past three I walk in, and everyone is excited to get working on their creations. If anyone ever gets stuck Mrs Lowth is always open to help when you need it. Textiles is by far the best after school club.
