Noteworthy Achievements

Many of our A level students choose to further their study of Art & Design in Higher Education.

There are multiple opportunities to enter competitions and our pupils have had great success with these over the last 5 years. For example:

  • Texaco Art
  • University of Ulster
  • Causeway Coast and Glens and many more

Art & Design is my favourite subject.  My favourite things in Art have been the pepper observation drawing, the colouring pencil and painted colour wheels, and the watercolour shell.  Art has really helped me improve my observational drawing skills, realistic art skills and my painting skills.  The media I have used this year include watercolour paints, pencils, colouring pencils and collage.  Overall, Art is fun and helps to improve your skills especially if you put a lot of time, pride and effort into your work!

I love to do Art in school and in my spare time as I find that it really relaxes me and makes me happy.  Doing Art in LGS has really improved the techniques and skills that I use for my artwork. My favourite medium to use in the Art department is clay because it's fun to use and you can be very creative with it. I also really enjoy using 2b and 4b pencils for sketching and shading.
