Open Night is traditionally held on the third Thursday in January. It is an opportunity for P7 pupils who have sat the AQE exam in the school, and for P6 pupils thinking of doing so the following year, and their parents, to visit the school.
On Open Night pupils in each subject department are on hand to display samples of work and learning activities and to answer questions from parents and primary pupils.
Through advertising in the local press and ‘flyers’ given to feeder primary schools, P6 and P7 parents and pupils are invited to come along at specific times (arranged alphabetically). Upon arrival they are divided into groups to listen to a short talk by the Principal before embarking on a guided tour of the school. Led by prefects, visitors will call at a large number of departments and view the full range of facilities on offer at LGS. The evening is very informal and ends with a cup of tea and chat in the canteen.
Very large numbers come along and parents are advised that, where possible, they should park outside the school grounds as parking spaces are very limited on site.
