Year Groups Involved: (Junior Law Society) Years 9 and 10


The Junior Law Society enters an annual competition organised by the Citizenship Foundation. Meetings of the Society takes place during lunch times, and after school, as necessary during the 6-8 weeks in the run up to the competition.

Activities

Pupils take on the roles of barristers, witnesses and court clerks in order to argue the prosecution and defence case in a mock trial held in the Magistrates Court in Belfast. Strong debating skills, the ability to think on one’s feet and excellent organisation are some of the relevant characteristics for those who wish to take part.
