The Junior and Senior Law Society enter annual competitions organised by the Citizenship foundation; the Junior competition is normally held in April and the Senior competition in November. Meetings of both Societies take place during lunch times, and after school, as necessary during the 6-8 weeks in the run up to each competition.

Activities

Pupils take on the roles of barristers, witnesses and court clerks in order to argue the prosecution and defence case in a mock trial held in the Magistrates and Crown Courts in Belfast. Strong debating skills, the ability to think on one’s feet and excellent organisation are relevant characteristics for those who wish to take part.
