Sixth Form : Art & Design - A Level
Introduction

Coursework
Coursework accounts for 60% of the AS and
A-Level course. All students must demonstrate competence in working in
both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional Art and Design activities. All students
must therefore present one final outcome which is 2-dimensional and one
which is 3-dimensional. A display of work is required for both examinations.
Recent Achievements
Well done to J. Logue whose work has been recommended for display in the prestigious True Colours exhibition in Belfast later in the year.

Eductional Visits
The Art and Design teachers and exam classes made a visit to the ‘True Colours Exhibition’ in Central Hall, Omagh on Tuesday 10th November 2009. This exhibition displays work by some of N. Ireland’s brightest young artists and designers produced for CCEA’s GCSE, AS/A summer ‘09 examinations.
This educational visit provided a teaching and learning opportunity where we saw and experienced at first hand a wide range of work in variety of media and processes by other students. Viewing this work presented an invaluable insight into the development and realisation of ideas and will help our pupils prepare for their Art and Deign courses in the future.
Afterward we visited the new Alley Theatre in Strabane where the education officer gave a lecture on the current fine art exhibition by Paul Woods, “Visions of War “. All in all it was a very informative and enjoyable visit.
