ICT

Pupils follow the CCEA GCSE course in ICT.

Year 11 Year 12

CCEA GCSE ICT builds on the ICT Accreditation Scheme at Key Stage 3 and provides a foundation for students intending to study ICT at a higher level.

It offers students a practical approach to ICT by presenting modules in web design, desktop publishing and multimedia design, and task-based coursework (accounting for 60 percent of the overall grade). It also allows students to incorporate ICT related work that they are carrying out in other subjects.

The full GCSE is made up of six assignment together with two written assessment papers. The coursework is worth 60% of the marks and each examination paper is worth 20%. Pupils can take the assessment at higher or foundation level.

Some pupils may wish to take the short course which requires submission of four pieces of coursework and one written assessment paper. This course may also be taken at higher or foundation level.

The coursework assignments are:

A1 Design a Multimedia Presentation (19 marks)

A3 Design a Website (19 marks)
