Chemistry

Year 11

Chemistry is the study of substances, what they're made of, how they interact and what role they play in living things.

The content of this course is set out in four sections:

A.  Atomic Structure and Bonding.

B.   Patterns and Classification.

C.  Chemical reactions and reactivity.

D.  Chemistry of the elements and their compounds.

Chemistry is a practical subject and will involve pupils planning and carrying out experiments to investigate a variety of concepts.

The course builds on and reviews work covered during years eight to ten.

Assessment consists of two components:

    (a)  Coursework

During four experiments throughout the two years, pupils are assessed on these qualities:
