The Course

Provides students with opportunities to engage in practical activities resulting in the production of fine art and design outcomes with reference, as appropriate, to approaches adopted by artists, designers and craftworkers when dealing with similar issues:

Provides students with experiences in which their intellectual, practical and aesthetic abilities are focused in creative and imaginative work;

Encourages students to evaluate, appreciate, describe and draw conclusions about their own work and that of other students;

Promotes the use of both two and three-dimensional materials and processes.

NB  Drawing and Painting skills and ability must be of the highest standard.

Assessment

Students will be required to:

  • Submit 1 pieces of coursework (60%)
  • Complete an externally-set assignment (40%)

Coursework  (60%)

Students are required to present a portfolio of work for unit 1, coursework.  This portfolio should contain edited work showing the breadth and depth of the experience gained over the two years of the course.

 The Externally Set Assignment  (40%)

Students are required to work to a stimulus in January of the Year of examination.  There is a set period of time for the student to develop preparatory none based on the set stimulus.  The final outcome must be completed in a set period of 10 hours and carried out under controlled test conditions.

A display of both Coursework and Externally Set Assignment is required.
