The Curriculum is changing rapidly, and LGS is leading the way in the delivery of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. The objectives are to develop the young person as:

  • an individual
  • a contributor to society and
  • a contributor to the economy and the environment.

This is accomplished through key elements such as personal and mutual understanding, citizenship and employability. It means that our teachers are challenged to ensure that lessons promote thinking skills such as making decisions, solving problems and working with others. Of course, this is done in the context of the traditional subjects, the Arts, Sciences, English, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Physical Education, the Sciences and Technology and Religious Education. LGS curriculum leaders have been putting the focus on the learning experiences of those in our care, providing a rich, supportive and active environment, ensuring an open relationship between learner and teacher, with clear targets and learning intentions shared and then celebrated. Such a climate produces optimism, respect and a wonderful community spirit in our school. Learners develop curiosity and openness to new ideas; they become committed and determined to succeed in the world. Coupled with that, they develop tolerance and moral courage, leading to a genuine concern for others.

The Curriculum at Limavady Grammar School is divided into 3 sections Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Post 16.
