Examination results are well above the mean for Northern Ireland as explained by the Headmaster in his address to parents: GCSE "We set target grades for improvement at GCSE. We improved the percentage gaining A* and A grades by 4%; we increased the percentage with 7 C grades by almost 3%. All our art students gained B grades or better. Of the 390 A* and A grades gained, Mathematics and English scored 60 each, Biology 15, Business Studies 14, Chemistry 28, French 48, Geography 22, History 14, Physics 16, Religious Studies 11, Double Award Science 48 and Technology 11 - excellence across the board." A LEVEL "We set out to improve our A-levels and we raised the percentage gaining 3 C grades from 43.8% to 46.3%. 281 subject entries out of 285 were awarded pass grades, and 47% of the entry gained top A or B grades. Thirteen departments achieved 100% pass rates; top performers were Physics and Mathematics with 22 A/B grades each, and Chemistry with 19. With smaller numbers of candidates, Biology gained 8, Business Studies 11, English 6, Further Mathematics and Geography 4 each, Home Economics 11 and History 8 and Politics 7, while Technology had 5." |
